Google Drive encountered a strange error causing data loss

The problem leading to the above situation mainly affects users of the Google Drive application version for computers. Affected people reported on the Google forums that their files disappeared without any warning.

A user in Korea said his Drive account was returned to May, resulting in data uploaded or created after this date no longer being displayed on the storage service. This person also did not find activity history after May or any files in the trash. Anb also does not synchronize or share data with anyone. Additionally, the data does not reappear after performing the recovery process as instructed by customer support from Google.

Some other users also reported that data uploaded after May was no longer available, while others said the problem affected files uploaded in the past year or two.

Google said it was investigating the incident, but did not elaborate on the scale and level of impact. During the processing period, the company recommends that users not make any changes on Google Drive. Currently, the problem does not affect users of Google Drive web version or mobile application.

Besides Drive, the Google Search Console service also encountered an error and stopped working on the evening of November 27. Google expert Daniel Waisberg confirmed with a joke: “I was looking for a plug to charge my phone so I had to unplug the server.” The problem has now been fixed.
