Samsung Gauss is a collection of generative AI that serves different purposes. In particular, Gauss Language is a synthetic language model that can compose emails and translate any content, as well as allow control of smart devices to improve user experience.
Gauss Image can quickly create, edit, and upgrade images with just text input like OpenAI’s Dall-E . The third tool is Gauss Code, which can help developers program faster than currently through an intuitive interactive interface.
“Samsung Gauss is currently used internally to improve employee productivity. This AI will be expanded to many other Samsung products to provide new experiences for users in the near future,” said a Samsung representative. at the Samsung AI Forum 2023 event on November 8 in Seoul.
According to CNBC , with the launch of a new artificial intelligence model, Samsung may be one of the first smartphone manufacturers in the world to integrate generative AI into devices. In October, Daniel Araujo, Vice President of Samsung’s mobile business, said AI built into mobile devices could reach users next year. According to Engadget , running generative AI right on the device instead of through the cloud like ChatGPT can become a plus for Samsung devices.
Meanwhile, Apple, Samsung’s big rival, has not announced any AI model. Last month, CEO Tim Cook said he was “progressing work” in the field of AI, but declined to provide details.
Some smartphone and mobile chip manufacturers are also joining the wave of bringing artificial AI to phones. Qualcomm has released the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chip that supports running AI, or Google’s Tensor 3 chip on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro can handle certain AI tasks on smartphones.
