Taking place on May 29th, the GStar 2026 forum, themed “AI and Humanity,” is expected to bring together dozens of leading AI leaders from both domestic and international backgrounds. They will share insights on the latest AI breakthroughs, practical applications, and talent development initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence, thereby promoting human-centered AI to enhance productivity, work quality, and life in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as fostering collaboration between businesses and academia in the region.

Some of the Google experts and speakers at the program included Dr. Luong Minh Thang, Principal Scientist and Director of Research at Google DeepMind, and co-founder of the non-profit AI development organization New Turing Institute (NTI); Dr. Ed H. Chi, Vice President of Research at Google DeepMind; Marc Woo, Director of Google Vietnam and Asia Pacific; and Yi Tay, Senior Researcher at Google DeepMind.

In addition, GStar 2026 features Dr. Bui Hai Hung, Vice President of Technology at Qualcomm AI Research (USA); Dr. Noriyuki Kojima, co-founder and CEO of Kotoba Technologies (Japan); Dr. Tuan Cao, co-founder and CEO of Life AI & Genetica (USA); Dr. Myungsub Choi, head of research at Tynapse (USA); Wendy Nguyen, co-founder of Pacific Gateway Partners and a member of the NTI board of directors; Jean Desombre, founder and partner at Pacific Gateway Partners; Jay Kim, President and CEO of Boryung Pharmaceuticals (Korea), and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Axiom Space (USA).

The event also featured several guests from academic institutions and universities, such as Professor Preslav Nakov, Head of the Natural Languages Department at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) from the UAE, and Professor of Mathematics Po-Shen Loh from Carnegie Mellon University (USA).

GStar 2026 revolves around three themes representing key development directions shaping the future of artificial intelligence. The first theme relates to AI technology platforms, focusing on AI platform models, the development of computing infrastructure, data, and new technical trends driving the next generation of AI. The second is safe and responsible AI, addressing issues of safety, AI governance, technological ethics, and its impact on society, people, and public policy. Finally, it focuses on practical AI applications, with numerous case studies in fields such as healthcare, finance, education, business operations, and industries that directly affect life, the economy, and national competitiveness.

Beyond academic discussions, the forum focuses on realizing the application of AI and developing talent for Vietnam, creating a strategic bridge between businesses, innovators, and investors.

“GStar 2026 is considered a significant milestone for the Asia-Pacific AI ecosystem in reshaping how AI serves humanity,” said Dr. Luong Minh Thang.

The GStar 2026 Forum is a continuation of the annual AI events organized by NTI, formerly VietAI, since 2018, with the goal of connecting the Vietnamese AI community with global experts. Previous events have featured several experts and prominent figures in artificial intelligence, such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Stanford University AI Lab Director Christopher Manning at AI Day 2023, and Google’s Chief Scientist Jeff Dean at GenAI 2024.
